FMOD, Multiplayer, Endless Mode, and More!

“Attention, Keyboard Kadets!

This is Keyboard Anthony and we’ve found a secure location to send out this kommunication, but just in case our signal is jammed by the Orthographimancer, this transmission will contain four parts: FMOD, Multiplayer, Endless Mode, and Updated Pickup and Upgrade Systems.

Part 1: FMOD! Keyboard Steven That Does Audio has been adjusting our communication signals, carrying on the legacy of Keyboard Dennis That Did Audio after that terrible tragedy with a Grubby.

Part 2: Multiplayer Mode! The Keyboard Kommander, himself, has been tinkering with ways to have random people help him out on his adventures. Using the Mixer platform, you’ll soon be able to gather your friends and help the Keyboard Kommander!

Part 3: Endless Mode! Our sources say that the Keyboard Kommander, in collaboration with Keyboard Steven That Does Programming, are revealing a way to endlessly lift the curses off some zombies for minutes or hours at a time with no additional distractions.

Part 4: UI Changes! We’ve just received updated reports that Keyboard Dion and the rest of the Keyboard Kommandos have been working on UI changes so the Keyboard Kommander and his team more clearly see their objectives. We’ll have more technical details as we receive them.

Hey! The signal wasn’t hacked into yet!

OK, cool, so in our upcoming Story Mode, Keyboard Josh and myself are researching the details about the Keyboard Kommander’s two sidekicks, Trish Keene and John Keene, and how the trio intends to tackle the Orthograhi-“

There’s a loud buzz on the radio you’re tuned into before an upbeat jingle plays.

“Greetings, fools!

It is I, The Orthographimancer. Normally our host, Kajas, would introduce you to the Keyboard Kommander Takedown Vestibule or KKTV for short, but he’s a little… indisposed at the moment! Hah, hah, hah! Now then, dear, dear patriotic listeners, please don’t be concerned with that aforementioned broadcast. With whom do you place more trust? These rebels that go in hiding, or me? Your humble and noble Orthographimancer, herself? Why-“

“Oh, we’re live? OK, yeah, this is Keyboard Josh. Our signal was hacked, and we just wanted to end the broadcast with this: look forward to our next broadcast in the next week or two with more information. Until then, don’t believe anything the Orthographimancer says. She’s full of it! Over and out.”

Megaunstable Multiplayer Beta!

Beginning transmission to all Keyboard Kadets!

Check out our beta multiplayer mode!

This was our biggest requested feature from PAX SIX 2018, after assorted dictionary and educational modes. The Keyboard Kommander fought tirelessly against hordes of zombies, bugs, and other mutants thrown at him by the evil Orthographimancer to make this possible. But like the multiplayer mode itself, he didn’t do it alone.

Everyone in the photograph above helped make this possible! The Keyboard Kommander himself (seated, right) found the service and began prototyping. Keyboard Chris (seated, left) and The Keyboard Steven That Does Programming (seated, center) helped test and of course, Keyboard Dion (standing, center) helped with UI and artistic representations!

Of course, there were other Keyboard Kommandos that helped make this testing session on December 1st at the Indie Support Group hosted by the Seattle Indies possible… It’s just that the Orthographimancer is closing in. The broadcast signal is fading fast!

Health Bars! Credits! Multiplayer! Mortuary!

Hello, Keyboard Kadets!

Keyboard Anthony reporting in on behalf of the kommandos! I’ve just got word from the Keyboard Kommander himself about some updates you’ll see in the next build.

– Health bars: Some players at PAX SIX reported that they wanted more clarity when it came to what enemies were being attacked by the Keyboard Kommander and their overall health. We’re happy to report that Keyboard Dion uncovered a way to make this happen!

– Credits Mode:  Check out a special new mode where you can interactively experience who helped make the game of Keyboard Kommander possible!

The evil Orthographimancer might try to foil some of the plans below, but we’re working to make these possible:

– Multiplayer: The Keyboard Kommander himself uncovered hidden pathways to make this PAX SIX request possible. And you won’t even need to share a keyboard!

– Mortuary: Keyboard Chris created this mode and we are collectively working on this to make an interesting experience for players! You’ll be able to see zombies and monsters up close and personal. You’ll be able to read about their role in Keyboard Kommander and even find out some useful stats about how fast they move or how hard they hit!

Until next time, Kadets.

[News/Updates] Updating Our Designs!

Hello, Keyboard Kadets!

Keyboard Anthony reporting in! I’ve cleared the broadband space on this secure channel so the Orthographimancer will not trace our signal.

Attentive kadets will notice that we’ve been working on our designs for both KeyboardKommander.com and our download page over at itch.io! If you have any suggestions, please broadcast them on our itch.io comments page for a special reward!

Oh no!

Jetpack Jack and Jetpack Jane have found us!

[News and Updates] What’s New, Kadets?

Hello, Keyboard Kadets!

We’ve been making significant progress to Keyboard Kommander.

We can’t reveal too much about what progress has been made at this time, because then our plans will be revealed to The Orthographimancer and her hordes of post-apocalyptic zombies and mutants, but we can reveal this:

  1. Pumpkin variants for zombies!
  2. New rager zombies will speed up attacks when the player makes a typo!
  3. Various bug fixes to increase stability!

The easiest way to find out what changes we’ve made is to download the Oktober Edition!

[News and Updates] Upcoming SPOOK-tober update!

Hey folks sorry for making you all wait, but we have an update worth talking about!

Thanks in no small part to our SIX debut we’ve been able to garner a lot more positive attention AND we have more volunteers on board for helping develop the game! More programmers, a couple of artists and story devs and a new Audio man to replace the amazingly talented Dennis who was able to get a job in the gaming industry doing sound design (GOD SPEED YE GENTLE AUDIOMAN!)

So Now we are gearing up for IFest which is happening all the way in May, with new system updates, more streamlined code and new art we’ve been cookin’ up. But may is a long ways away, and since Halloween is just around the corner we’re doing a spooky celebration by adding some new art assets for the festivities and having a more stable build than before!

We’ll be releasing the build a few days before halloween so get ready to mash those keys into the zombies SPOOKY style!
